How the Reclosable Label System Works

Controlled Initial Opening

The adhesive must hold the label securely during converting, packing, shipping and storage while still allowing the opening area to be peeled back by the consumer. Excessive peel force may deform the foil or make the pack difficult to open; insufficient adhesion may cause lifting before use.

Repeatable Resealing

After opening, the label is pressed back over the access area. The adhesive system is selected to retain useful tack through the specified use cycle. Actual performance depends on the foil coating, surface cleanliness, label size, contact area, opening-tab design and environmental conditions.

Clean Foil Interaction

A well-matched construction should minimize adhesive transfer, uncontrolled tearing and visible residue on the specified inner liner surface. Because aluminum foil laminates and coatings vary, tests should use the customer’s actual production material whenever possible.

Film Face Materials

BOPP, PET and other printable films can be evaluated according to stiffness, conformability, dimensional stability, appearance and processing requirements. White, clear, metallized or custom visual effects may be considered depending on the design and the underlying foil.

Removable and Repositionable Adhesives

The adhesive is developed around the required opening force, reseal behavior, storage environment and foil surface. Different constructions may be required for lacquered foil, laminated film, printed inner liners or low-surface-energy coatings. Adhesive choice should be validated before mass production.

Opening Tab and Die-Cut Design

A non-adhesive or low-tack opening tab can make the label easier to lift. Rounded corners and controlled die cutting help reduce premature edge lifting and damage to the liner. The label shape must match the access opening while leaving enough bonded area for repeated closing.

Compatibility with Cigarette Inner Liners

The label may be developed for aluminum foil laminates and other high-barrier inner liner structures. It works as one component of the complete pack and does not create barrier performance by itself. Moisture and aroma protection depend on the inner liner material, seal geometry, package construction, filling process and reclosing behavior.

Labels supplied for automatic application must match the machine’s core diameter, maximum outside roll diameter and web-width limits. The quantity per roll can be adjusted according to the label pitch, liner thickness, roll diameter and production-line needs.

Unwind Direction and Label Orientation

Confirm which edge leads during dispensing and whether the printed face and opening tab must point in a specific direction. Supplying a machine drawing, approved sample roll or unwind diagram reduces the risk of orientation errors.

Pitch, Gap and Registration

Label pitch, gap, liner width, edge clearance, registration marks and sensing requirements should be specified for accurate dispensing and placement. Where the label works with a pre-cut liner opening, print-to-die and label-to-opening registration are particularly important.
